What makes a great ecommerce store?
Ask a store owner this question and their response is likely to be "great products". To some extent, this is obviously true. Without products, there would be no reason for the customer to visit the store and, ultimately, that is the customer's sole purpose for visiting the site. The answer, however, is "great software and a great design".

Customers need to know that their orders will be fulfilled and there has to be a sense of trust before entering their credit card details into your system. If a store is badly designed and looks unprofessional, or doesn't perform as well as some of the major players such as Amazon the chances of them trusting your store enough to part with their money is drastically reduced.

Over the last five years of specialising in ecommerce website design, we have had countless clients come to us after unsuccessfully trying to run a store by other ecommerce companies. In some cases, it was the badly designed site and logo that was putting customers off and so they would immediately leave and go to a competitor's store instead. In other instances, it wasn't necessarily the design that was putting people off but the difficulty of using the store itself. It is widely known that every page should be accessible from every other page on a website with only one or two clicks required to reach those pages. A clumsy checkout mechanism means that your customers don't know if they've paid or not, can't edit the number of items in their cart, or just can't see any of the content because it's being delivered by javascript.

In all of the above cases, we've taken the bull by the horns and not only rebuilt the store using Ingenii for maximum efficiency, but we've also completely redesigned the layout of their store and perhaps even created an entirely new corporate image and logo for the client. As soon as their new Ingenii stores are launched, the visitors have a renewed sense of trust and familiarity, and the increase in revenue speaks volumes.

Case Study
Client had been trading online for a number of years with a website which was becoming increasingly slow as each day passed. By the time they spoke to us, their store hadn't been taking orders for several months as the pages were taking too long to load and, in most cases, weren't even loading at all. Their software was relatively old and hadn't been upgraded in some time and their design had become dated. We spoke with them at length about how they wanted to be perceived and what they'd like to achieve. Several days later their newly designed Ingenii store was ready to use and we migrated all their customer data, product data and product images from their previous store to the new one so that they could immediately start trading. Now, less than two months on, they have enjoyed over 200 brand new orders from satisfied customers and have topped their previous month's sales by over 25% and continue to grow.
